For a baby shower, it is important that you choose a thank you note that coordinates with the invitation and the other parts of the shower. So, choosing the thank you note when you choose the invitation is a great way to ensure that the notes will match.
But there is another hurdle to overcome. The fact of the matter is that you, as the hostess, are not the one required to send out thank you cards. That falls to the mom who received all the gifts. However, depending on when you have the shower, she may have other cares after the shower. Even if you have the baby shower months before the baby is due, it doesn’t mean that the child won’t make an early arrival. Even if all the stars align and the Mom has weeks after the shower to prepare for the birth, she may need to work, or prepare the nursery, or do any of the other dozens of chores necessary to welcome baby.
As the hostess, you can make her job much easier with a few simple tricks. When you are filling out the envelopes for the invitation, go ahead and fill out the envelopes for the thank you notes, stamp them, and place a blank note inside. Place the stack of thank you notes aside with a pen and a stack of sticky notes.
At the party, pull out the stack while the Mom is opening gifts. Write down what each guest gave the mom on a sticky note. Then stick the note to the blank card inside the appropriately addressed envelope. Then all the Mom has to do is to pull out each envelope, fill out the thank you card with words of appreciation for the gift, which you have noted, and stick the notes in the mail.
