Books
for baby

The difference between babies who are read to and babies who are not is a million words by the time they start school. This can affect the child’s ability to read, spell and even speak. While the risks to future scholastic achievement are dire, it can be fixed by making sure that children are raised with books.

One of the easiest, and most enjoyable ways is to read to the baby daily, even before birth. The problem is that many new moms just don’t have the baby books around to read to their little ones. To remedy this situation, simply ask your shower guests to bring a small children’s book or a baby book to the shower instead of a card.

Think about it. What is the mother going to do with greeting cards after the shower? Sure, she can put them in the baby book, but how often do people really look at those. And they aren’t cheap. In fact, many of the nicer cards cost as much as a nice baby book.

So why not ask your guests to bring a book instead of a greeting card. Your guest can sign the title page with whatever loving wishes they desire. And the book will stay out and be used on a daily basis, instead of being shoved away in a baby book on a shelf somewhere. It has the potential to become a treasured story instead of a piece of flotsam.

This simple card makes a great way to let your guests in on the idea. Simply add the card to your invitations and they will know to bring a small book instead of a card.
